As we prepare our hearts for worship tomorrow, we invite you to listen to this song that we'll be singing and become familiar with the words. It's called Turn Your Eyes by Sovereign Grace Music. See you for worship at Greenmonte at 10am (Don't forget that clocks turn back an hour tonight!)
Turn Your Eyes by Sovereign Grace Turn your eyes upon JesusLook full in His wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace
Turn your eyes to the hillside Where justice and mercy embraced There the Son of God gave His life for us And our measureless debt was erased
CHORUS Jesus, to You we lift our eyes Jesus, our glory and our prize We adore You, behold You, our Savior ever true Oh Jesus, we turn our eyes to You
Turn your eyes to the morning And see Christ the lion awake What a glorious dawn, fear of death is gone For we carry His life in our veins
Turn your eyes to the heavens Our King will return for His own Every knee will bow, every tongue will shout All glory to Jesus alone
Opportunities to Help Local Afghan Refugee Families
We have the opportunity to be Jesus' hands and feet to bless a number of Afghan refugee families who are currently staying in temporary housing in the Waynesboro area. Our contact at the International Rescue Committee in Charlottesville who is working with these families has said the following items would be helpful:
Coats and warm clothing. There are 18 children ages 6 months to 16 years old. All sizes of coats and sweaters would be helpful.
Simple toys like blocks, cars, dolls, playing cards (no small pieces please) and educational workbooks.
Gift cards for Walmart or Visa
You can bring these items to Greenmonte this Sunday or any time next week and place them in the lobby area.
For those interested in volunteering in other ways, Diana Connolly, our contact from IRC, will be hosting a Volunteer Orientation via Zoom on Sunday afternoon. The orientation will go over Refugee Resettlement, the IRC’s role, the current crisis, and volunteer roles, expectations and boundaries. It should take about 90 minutes.
Additional opportunities for those who would like to serve directly with the refugee families include:
Assisting Afghan families with things like grocery shopping, delivery of prepared meals (from restaurants) and transportation of those items.
If you would like to learn more about those opportunities and have some weekday, daytime availability to jump in and help with transportation and delivery of these items, please contact Diana Connoly, development coordinator of IRC, directly at Diana.Connolly@rescue.org. She'll set up a brief interview with you and get your background check started asap.
Thanks for considering this opportunity to be a blessing to these families in Jesus' name.

It’s the merriest meal of the year! Our Greenmonte Christmas Banquet will take place on Saturday, December 4th at 5pm at Greenmonte. This time, all the cooking will be done for you—just show up with your Christmas spirit and your appetite. We'll have Christmas ham, turkey, and all your holiday favorites. There will be prizes, games, and singing of carols. Don’t miss this chance to celebrate the birth of our Savior with your Greenmonte family! To offset catering costs, we’re asking each family to reserve tickets: $5 adults/$3 children. The deadline to purchase is November 27. Just click the button below to reserve your tickets.
In this season of thankfulness, we'd like to show appreciation to the mission-minded partners who are ministering globally and locally on Greenmonte's behalf. We love our ministry partners! Let's bless them with care packages (overseas) and gift baskets (local). Please view our listing of needed items and sign up for a few. (The Perfect Potluck passwords is greenmonte.) Then bring them to church on Sunday, November 14th to compile all the goodies. Thanks for being a blessing!
If you have questions, contact Natalie Pittman or Liza Peltola.
