News for December 12, 2020

We had a great time spreading Christmas cheer to our elderly neighbors at Stuarts Draft Retirement Community on Wednesday evening!

Worship Plan for Sunday, December 13th
We'll see you for worship at Greenmonte this Sunday at 10:15am.

Masks
We ask that everyone age 5 and older wear a mask while inside the building.

Seating
Sanctuary seating has been arranged in distanced rows. If you need further distancing, the back of the sanctuary has open space and folding chairs available for you to arrange your own seating.

Livestream
Our worship will be livestreamed on our YouTube and Facebook channels.

Advent
This Sunday is the third Sunday of Advent. Advent is the season in which we prepare our hearts for the coming of the Christ child at Christmas, while also looking forward to when Jesus will come again. Come join us as we set our hearts on Him!

Home for Christmas
Let's extend some Christmas cheer to our Greenmonte family worshipping at home! There is a Christmas tree in the lobby with tags hanging from it. Each tag is labeled with the name of a family or individual who has been worshipping at home. Please take a tag, mark down on the clipboard whose name you took, and follow the directions on the tag to provide the family with a special gift of love from Greenmonte! If you have questions, contact Liza Peltola. The last day to take a tag is tomorrow (Sunday, December 13th). This is our chance to show love to some of our brothers and sisters that we haven't seen face-to-face in a while!

Youth Hike: Tomorrow After Worship
There will be a youth hike this Sunday following church. We will go to either Crabtree Falls or a hike on the trails at Wintergreen. Families and friends are welcome to join us! Please RSVP to Dane Barr at 540 290 1037 if you plan to participate so we can coordinate transportation and lunch plans.

Greenmonte Christmas Eve Service
Please join us December 24th at 4pm at Greenmonte for our Christmas Eve service. We're looking forward to celebrating the birth of our Savior together. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors!

17 Practical and Effective Ways You Can Reach Your Neighbors This Christmas and New Years
Now, more than ever, people need hope! Thankfully, we know the source of hope and His name is Jesus. Even with the challenges that Covid brings to normal life, we can still find creative and effective ways to share the hope that we have with others. Check out this blog post by a British couple who are church planting in America, Alex & Hannah Absalom, and their 17 ideas for reaching your neighbors during Christmas and New Years.

This Sunday: Dear Smyrna
We're currently in a sermon series entitled Dear Church: Seven Letters to Seven Churches. As we read Jesus’ seven letters to seven churches in the book of Revelation, we’ll learn what Jesus is saying to us, His church at Greenmonte, so that we can remain faithful even in hardship and live with hopeful hearts, awaiting King Jesus’ return.

In preparation for this Sunday, we invite you to read Revelation 2:8-11 to hear Jesus' words to the church in Smyrna.
