On Assignment

Paul, writing to the Colossians from prison, did not ask for the prison doors to be opened, but for an open door for the Word. He was more concerned about being faithful than he was about being free. His assignment from God -- to declare the mystery of the gospel -- was what drove him to endure suffering and imprisonment. Each of us has been given a God-ordained assignment, and when we focus our lives on what he has called us to, being steadfast in prayer, wise towards the world, and gracious in speech, then God will use our lives mightily for the advancement of His Kingdom.
