Weeds In Our Garden: Known, Loved & Accepted

Feb 8, 2026    Seth Hankee

When we have the courage to bring things honestly into the light, we are able to get to the root of what is really going on in our lives. Long before unhealthy patterns show up in our actions or affect our mental health, lies have already begun to take hold in our minds. Those lies quietly shape the way we see ourselves, our circumstances, and even God. As Jesus reminds us in John 10, there is an enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, and he often works through deceptive ideas, disordered desires, and beliefs that become normalized by our culture.

Our lives consistently move in the direction of our strongest thoughts. When those thoughts are rooted in falsehood, they distort our identity and lead us away from the abundant life Christ offers. Too often we try to find our worth and identity in people, achievements, or possessions, only to discover that none of those things can truly define us. But God’s Word speaks a better truth. Our identity is not found in what we do or in how others see us—it is found in Christ alone. In Him we are fully known, completely accepted, and deeply loved. When we replace lies with God’s truth, real healing and transformation can begin.
