Ballot for VMC Vote

The Elders are recommending that we formally dissolve our relationship with the Virginia Mennnonite Conference (VMC). This decision comes after years of prayer, faithful dialogue and work with conference leadership. At its core, this is an issue of Biblical faithfulness and gospel witness. We believe in the historic Christian understanding of marriage & sexuality and find that, although VMC holds that stance officially, it actually does not do so in practice. When attempts have been made to rectify this disparity between faith and practice, there has been pushback by conference leadership and, more recently, by the broader conference delegate assembly.

If Greenmonte's vote passes, a formal letter of withdrawal will be sent by the Elders to our Southern District Overseer who will bring the matter to the District Council. The District Council will then make a recommendation to Conference Council so that Greenmonte could officially be withdrawn from VMC by this summer.
