The God of All Comfort

Paul opens this letter by praising God as the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort—the One who meets us in every sorrow and strengthens us in every trial. He reminds us that as God comforts us in our suffering, He equips us to extend that same comfort to others who are hurting. Just as we share in Christ’s sufferings, we also share abundantly in His comfort. So when we begin to walk through the deep sorrows of our grief, we turn first to the God who strengthens us, trusting that the comfort He gives will overflow to those around us as well.
