Church Retreat at Highland: September 15-17, 2023
Greenmonte is taking a family vacation September 15-17, 2023, to Highland Retreat in Bergton, VA. Tucked among the rolling hills of western Virginia, the retreat feels miles away from civilization, even though the drive is not much more than an hour from Stuarts Draft. Spend a weekend enjoying fresh air, hiking, outdoor games, group activities, and unhurried fellowship with your church family. The cost to you is only $25 per person for the entire weekend!

Lodging
Highland offers campsites, cabins, and lodge bunks. Take a look at the lodging options below and make your decision before clicking the Register button. Lodging is limited, and your $25/person payment is due at the time of registration.
RED OAK LODGE (Six bunk rooms and one suite)
Located on the wood’s edge with inspiring mountain views, Red Oak Lodge is a cool haven in summer. Greenmonte has the whole lodge reserved! Rooms are bunk-style, sleeping 8 per room. Bathrooms are shared on each hall. An additional 4 people can be accommodated in the motel-style private suite. A total of 52 people can stay in the lodge. Click here for pictures.
CREEKSIDE COTTAGE (One cottage for one family)
Creekside is located against the mountainside next to Capon Run where the soothing flow of water can be enjoyed from the sunroom/screened porch. The cottage has a queen-sized bed and a pull-out twin-sized sleeper sofa. Linens are provided. There is one bathroom and kitchen facilities. Creekside is totally out of the way of traffic, and yet is a stone’s throw from the perimeter trail which leads to the lower camp in one direction and the upper camp in the other. Click here for pictures. While you are free to request this cabin, it will be awarded to the Greenmonte applicant with the greatest need or seniority in age. On the registration page, you will be asked to provide a second choice in case this cabin is not available.
DOGWOOD COTTAGE (One cottage for one family)
Dogwood Cottage is located just beyond the Highland Pool in the heart of the lower camp. Dogwood sleeps up to 8 people in two bedrooms and is a quaint getaway any time of year. Click here for pictures. While you are free to request this cabin, it will be awarded to the Greenmonte applicant with the greatest need or seniority in age. On the registration page, you will be asked to provide a second choice in case this cabin is not available.
RUSTIC CABINS (10 Cabins)
Our camping cabins are beautifully located near both the forest edge and the stream, Capon Run. These cabins allow affordable warm-weather (May 1 to November 15) sleeping space. Each cabin can sleep 12 people bunk-style. There is no A/C or private baths. The bathhouses are a short walk away. Click here for pictures.
TENT & RV CAMPING (11-13 sites)
The Upper Highland Campground is located in the woods and fields between Mountain View Retreat Center and Red Oak Lodge. The area has 11 separate sites surrounding Mt. Everett Pavilion and bathhouse, making it ideal for single family units or small to mid-sized groups (up to 50 people). Because of its proximity to the lodges, groups often combine camping and lodging to better accommodate individual needs. Nine sites have access to water and electric hookups; two sites are primitive.
